“The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks.” Luke6:45
We cannot give what we don’t have. We cannot teach what we don’t know. We cannot show someone the way if we don’t know the way.
Paul told Timothy, “you have been taught the Holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus.” (2 Tim 3:15 NLT) The scriptures give wisdom to an unbeliever helping them see their sin and choose to put their faith in Christ. As believers, we are called upon to share the good news of Jesus Christ with others so that they too can escape the condemnation to come. The bible is both our teacher on how to live lives worthy of God and our teacher to teach us how to teach others and disciple them. “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.” (2 Tim 3:16-17 NLT) And chief of all the good works God has prepared for us to do is the great commission (to teach other people about Jesus). In addition, you must “always be ready to give a logical defense to anyone who asks you to account for the hope that is in you,” (1 Pet 3:15 Amp) that is the hope of Salvation in Jesus. By doing so, God will win some of them.
