If someone were to ask you, what is the greatest dream killer of all? What would you say?
I recently watched a talk by Barbara Sher in which she argues that we have to change our common understanding of why we so often fail to bring our dreams into reality. She says blaming bad attitude, negative thinking or lack of effort is misguided. She identifies isolation as the root cause. We are meant to help each other fulfill our dreams. When we isolate ourselves from others who can help us, that isolation kills our dreams. We don’t have to know everything we need to achieve our dreams. Even when we have a bad attitude, there is someone out there who can help us with our bad attitude. I agree with her that isolation is the ultimate dream killer.
