Hello guys, I recently published my new book, Inductive Bible Study. It took me about 10 years to write this book. I’m excited to give it to you free of charge! No strings attached! Amazon is running a promotion where you can download a free version from December 8-9, 2020. The content in it is life-changing. My wife, my kids, and I use the content for our weekly Bible study every Saturday. Even though the book is written for a seminary course, it is written in a way that is accessible to my 9 and 11-year-olds!

How did this book come to be?

In September 2010, my wife (Ellen) and I engaged in a 21-day period of fasting, prayer, and discernment. At the end of that time, we became convinced that God was calling me, for a season, to resign from my medical residency and work as a full-time missionary preaching the gospel, serving orphans, and empowering people to live life to the fullest. That decision began a five-year journey during which we experienced God through various challenges and did some of our most impactful work to date. During that period, I had the privilege of running an intensive three-month discipleship program for young people with a heart for ministry. I also began course work that would end in a master’s degree in Evangelism and Church Planting, a Doctorate in Spiritual Formation, and my current part-time passion work as a professor of ministry in the Department of Orphans and Vulnerable Children at Servants University.

As I traveled back and forth between the U.S. and Cameroon, I had the privilege of teaching orphans and vulnerable children through the Kenneth Acha Foundation in Cameroon and baptizing and discipling young people in Austin, Texas. After working with us for three years, one of the young women we had baptized and discipled gave me the honor of walking her down the aisle on her wedding day because her father was not in her life. You can only imagine the surprise of those who didn’t know our relationship to see this black African man walking a young Caucasian lady down the aisle as her father.

During these five years, young people we had never met traveled from different states to live with us in our small duplex to be discipled and prepared for the mission field. We spent hours a day in God’s word and prayer. It was a time of growth for all of us. It was during those transforming days that the foundations of this book were laid. Working with many people who desired to study God’s word but didn’t have the resources and training to do so, I wanted to create one well-researched resource that will give them everything they needed to study God’s word for a lifetime.

God used my love for learning to grow and prepare me to write this book. By the time I returned to medicine (in 2015), I had extensively researched Bible Study Methods and created a large library of hermeneutic books and resources. Far above and beyond all that, God taught me to obey him and rely on the Spirit through the things we suffered during this period. Through many trials, persecutions, and attacks, God has shown me how to listen to him, read his word, and trust Him. Even though by that time, I had been teaching a course on Bible Study Methods at Servants University, I didn’t feel what I had written down was the book God wanted me to write. Having laid the foundation for this book in 2010, it took me until 2020, when God opened the door for me to dive back into research, read extensively, and finally write this book.
