 Facts on Daily Meditation

“This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good success.” Joshua 1:8 Amp.

“Blessed (happy, fortunate, prosperous, and enviable) is the man who walks and lives not in the counsel of the ungodly [following their advice, their plans and purposes], nor stands [submissive and inactive] in the path where sinners walk, nor sits down [to relax and rest] where the scornful [and the mockers] gather.

But his delight and desire are in the law of the Lord, and on His law (the precepts, the instructions, the teachings of God) he habitually meditates (ponders and studies) by day and by night. And he shall be like a tree firmly planted [and tended] by the streams of water, ready to bring forth its fruit in its season; its leaf also shall not fade or wither; and everything he does shall prosper [and come to maturity].” Psalm 1:1-3 Amp.

These two passages are just a few of the many passages in the scriptures that talk about the tremendous Benefits of meditating on God’s word. From both verses above, we should meditate “day and night.” Every opportunity we have, we should meditate on God’s word. Joshua 1:8 also says “you shall make your way prosperous…” It is interesting that it doesn’t say “God shall make your way prosperous…” No, prosperity doesn’t come necessarily because God is rewarding him from studying his word. No. God’s Word itself will be his blessing because God’s word will be a lamp unto his feet, a light for his path. It will give him wisdom to make wise decisions. It will empower him to pray prayers that God will answer. So studying God’s word is its own reward. The results of such a life that has the light of the Word of God shinning in its path is depicted in Psalm 1:1-3. That person will be blessed and will be like a tree firmly planted [and tended] by the streams of water, ready to bring forth its fruit in its season; its leaf also shall not fade or wither; and everything he does shall prosper [and come to maturity].

The daily meditation method will enable us to meditate on God’s word daily. It is good for people who have 20 to 30 minutes to meditate on God’s word. A serious believer can literally do this in the morning and evening.

Definition: You choose a very brief passage, pray, read it, memorize it, and meditate on it, journal, and apply it to yourself.

Go to How to Meditate to finish the process. Follow those steps to start meditating on God’s word.
