Remember that you are uniquely chosen and called to do what you do
I read about a young leader named Jeremy. His father put him in charge of his huge business empire worth multiplied billions with hundreds of thousands of employees. Early on in his career, he was very passionate about fulfilling his calling to lead his father’s business. As time passed, he grew weary, lost his passion, and became overwhelmed.
The organization had many corrupt leaders at every level and getting the kind of transformation he wanted to see happen was not going to be easy. Many people had worked there for so long that even though they were corrupt, they were like family members. Jeremy knew that his father would want to see transformation not firing everyone in one sweep and destroying many families.
How did Jeremy regain his passion?
Jeremy said that when he was younger, his father would tell him what he was to do later in life. “Jeremy,” his father would tell him, “your mother and I were perfectly happy. We didn’t need to have any children to be happy. Then we decided to have one child that we would share our love with. We wanted to raise this child and train him or her to lead our company. You know, the only reason we have this company and would like to see it continue to go forward when we are not around is because of the good it does for the people that work for us.  And the products it produces changes many lives. Because serving others is the best thing any human being can do, we wanted a child that we would love, train, and give the opportunity to sacrifice and serve others just as we ourselves have. As you know us well, it’s not about the money. There are many blessings that come with serving others, but many challenges as well. You are our miracle child, you are just the man for the job. You were created to do this and I am sure you will do great. Even before you were formed in your mother’s womb, I knew you in my heart. I used to sing songs to you and make proclamations about how well you will serve the world. I often put my ear against your mother’s tummy to hear the sounds you made. Then I would visualize your form, just how beautiful and wonderful you were being made. Before you were born, I appointed you as a leader to the people our company serves. You will do great things. And when I’m not here, my spirit will watch over you from heaven.”
Sometimes, Jeremy will complain, “Dad, that’s too much for me. I’m only a teenager. I’m too young to lead all these people. Besides, they won’t listen to me. If they don’t listen to you, they are not going to listen to me.” Â His dad would always say to him, “Never ever say, you are too young. Don’t allow anyone to despise your youth. Don’t look down on your potential. This is your calling. This is what you were born to do. You must take care of these people and do everything I teach you. You have to lead them. That’s the right thing to do. You lead them not for yourself but for their sakes. And don’t ever be afraid of them because the truth will always be on your side and will set you free from any troubles.”
Every time Jeremy would lose his passion, he would find a quiet place, meditate and quiet his mind from all distractions. He would just focus on thinking about his father’s words. He would relive the moments of his calling. It was almost as if his father was before him. He could hear his voice again. Every time he would meditate on his calling and how he was destined to lead his father’s business, a fire will be ignited in his heart and his passion would return as strong as ever. There would be a revival in his heart and his oomph would return.
I have personally tried this method and it works every time.
A great way to increase or rekindle your passion is to Meditate on your calling and purpose in life. Think about how uniquely chosen you are for your work.
I call this, the Jeremy method.
