I can’t courses right now. Can I get course information like syllabus or books sent to me?
Individual teachers control the release of information for their specific courses. All of our teachers are hardworking servants of God, who have dedicated their lives to teaching the word of God. They release information about their courses only to students who have signed up and paid tuition to take their courses. Therefore, we are unable to give out course information (books, syllabus, etc.) to students unless they are officially enrolled and have paid course tuition.
“The Lord ordered that those who preach the Good News should be supported by those who benefit from it.” (1 Cor. 9:14 NLT)
“The elders who rule well are to be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who work hard at preaching and teaching…The laborer is worthy of his wages.” (1 Tim 5:17-18 NASB)
These teachers earn their living by teaching at SU. As such, it will be unfair to try to have them give away their course material. Many of these teachers are pastors who teach for very little through their churches. They supplement their income with what they earn from SU.
That is also why we do not encourage students to share course information online. These teachers are like authors who have created their courses to both impact people and also earn some compensation from it. As such, it is our responsibility to protect their God-given right to do so.
What about students who are poor and cannot afford to pay tuition?
SU has an income-based scholarship program that is intended to help all students who are financially unable to afford an education at SU. So, if students really do not have the finances that are required, they can still get an excellent education with SU; they simply need to apply for our Low-Income Scholarship.
