I just read a post by the Michael Hyatt, the chairman of Thomas Nelson Publishers, the largest Christian publishing company in the world, and learned what I am about to share with you.
There are three ways that you can approach an instructional book like the Bible or a leadership book. Approach it:
- As a mirror. Use it as a self-evaluation tool. It shows us our defects and identifies areas of improvement with ways of doing so.
- As a map. The instructions in the Bible give us a good road map to follow and walk successfully. It is a good safeguard to danger zones and pitfalls.
- As a mentor. The words of Christ in the Bible and the Holy Spirit who interprets them can serve as a mentor for us if we yield ourselves to them.
I hope this helps!
